The Minister of Interior and the Director of Public Security witnessed the launch of the "Yes to Life... No to Drugs" campaign with a friendly match at Yarmouk University.

Minister of Interior Mazen Al-Faraya sponsored the national awareness campaign under the slogan "Yes to Life... No to Drugs." The campaign was launched by the Public Security Directorate at Yarmouk University, in the presence of the Director of Public Security, Major General Dr. Obaidallah Maaytah, the University President, Dr. Malek Al-Sharairy, and Irbid Governor Radwan Al-Atoum.
The campaign aims to raise community awareness of the dangers of the drug scourge and ways to prevent it, within the framework of a comprehensive, participatory national vision that brings together official, academic, and youth institutions. It focuses specifically on university students and young people, as they are the most capable of bringing about positive change in society.
In a speech delivered during the ceremony, the Minister of Interior emphasized that combating drugs is a shared national responsibility that is not limited to security efforts alone, but rather complements the role of the family, schools, universities, and the media in protecting society and immunizing youth from this dangerous scourge.
Al-Faraya expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Public Security Directorate for its significant efforts in combating drugs through security prosecutions of drug dealers and the implementation of awareness, prevention, and treatment programs. He also praised Yarmouk University's role in hosting this event, emphasizing the importance of universities' awareness-raising role in building an informed generation capable of saying, "Yes to life... No to drugs."
For his part, Brigadier General Hassan Al-Qudah, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department, emphasized that the directorate is continuing its efforts to protect society from this scourge through an integrated strategy that includes security, awareness, and treatment axes. He pointed out that combating drugs is a collective responsibility that requires community awareness and the concerted efforts of all national efforts.
Dr. Al-Sharairi, President of Yarmouk University, expressed the university's pride in hosting this event and being chosen as the launching pad for this national campaign, which embodies the effective partnership between security and academic institutions to serve the community. He praised the role of university students in spreading a culture of awareness and commitment and supporting national efforts to prevent drugs.
The ceremony included a friendly match between current and former national team players, held in an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and sportsmanship, conveying a meaningful youth message: "Sports is a way of life... not drugs."
The ceremony also included an outdoor awareness exhibition held in the university grounds, which displayed visual materials and educational publications about the dangers of drugs and means of prevention, along with successful stories and experiences in treatment and rehabilitation.
The ceremony was attended by a number of senior public security officers and administrative governors in Irbid Governorate, representatives of official and civil institutions, members of local security councils, and a large gathering of Yarmouk University students and schoolchildren.
The awareness campaign will continue for two weeks, during which events and activities will focus on youth, with the aim of promoting values of life and raising awareness of the dangers of drugs and their impact on individuals and society.
