The Ministries of Interior, Labor, and Public Security are calling on foreigners to rectify their legal status and register their place of residence at the nearest security center.

**Any worker found working without a work permit, or in a profession other than that for which they are authorized, will be deported immediately.**

**Employers, the issuing authority, and homeowners will be fined up to twice the value of the work permit.**

**Strict measures will be taken to prosecute anyone who aids, harbors, or employs runaway domestic workers, in accordance with anti-human trafficking laws.**

In a joint statement issued today, the Ministries of Interior and Labor and the Public Security Directorate emphasized the necessity for foreigners residing in the Kingdom to comply with the provisions of the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Law, rectify their legal status, and register their place of residence. They stressed that the competent authorities are proceeding with legal action and will hold accountable anyone found to be harboring or employing any foreigner outside the framework of the law.

** The Ministry of Interior clarified that the Residence and Foreigners Affairs Law No. (24) of 1973 and its amendments, stipulate in Article (11), that any foreigner wishing to stay in the Kingdom for more than two weeks must visit the Public Security Directorate or one of its branches or security centers to complete a declaration containing their personal data and submit the necessary supporting documents, in order to document their place of residence.

The Ministry added that Article (14) of the law obligates managers of hotels, hostels, and hotel apartments, and anyone who shelters a foreigner or provides them with accommodation, to notify the Public Security Directorate within 48 hours of their arrival or departure from the premises. It further stated that violating the provisions of Articles (11) and (14) subjects the violator to a fine of (200) dinars, according to Article (36) of the law.

The Ministry of Interior also pointed out that Article (4) of the Residence Regulations No. (95) of 1998 obligates owners and landlords of furnished apartments to notify the nearest security center within 24 hours of any foreigner occupying or leaving those apartments. The Ministry emphasized that the penalties stipulated in the law will be applied to anyone who violates these provisions.

The Ministry stressed that these measures are part of its efforts to combat any practices that violate the law, affirming that it will not hesitate to take legal action against anyone harboring a foreigner, and that violators will be referred to administrative governors for appropriate legal action.

Furthermore, the Ministry indicated that these measures have a humanitarian dimension aimed at preserving the rights and safety of foreigners and preventing their exploitation by any party.

In the same context, the Ministry of Labor confirmed that any non-Jordanian worker found working without a work permit, or in a profession other than that for which they are authorized, will be immediately deported. In addition, the employer, the issuing authority, or the homeowner will be fined up to twice the value of the work permit.

The Ministry clarified that the regulations governing domestic worker recruitment agencies prohibit employing any domestic worker without a work permit for the employer. It also prohibits employing domestic workers on a trial basis or on a daily wage basis, and forbids transferring a worker from one household to another without prior approval from the relevant authorities.

The Ministry urged citizens to deal only with the 222 licensed recruitment agencies, warning against employing domestic workers without valid work permits, given the direct impact this has on the worker's health and the health of the family, especially since permit renewal requires an annual medical examination.

For its part, the Public Security Directorate affirmed that all its relevant departments will monitor and address all violations related to the Residency and Foreigners Affairs Law and the Labor Law, and that all security centers are open to the public to facilitate their transactions in this regard.

The Public Security Directorate affirmed that anyone harboring a runaway domestic worker, providing them with accommodation or employment, or attempting to exploit any worker will be held legally accountable. The Directorate indicated that investigations will extend to all those involved in the escape operations, whether through recruitment agencies, intermediaries, or individuals, and they will be charged with human trafficking.

The Directorate also emphasized that legal responsibility will extend to anyone who contributes to smuggling domestic workers or provides them with shelter or employment without reporting them. It noted that the relevant authorities will investigate their places of residence during periods of escape and will take legal action against anyone found to be involved or negligent.
