Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Wednesday, in the first official visit by an Arab Interior Minister to Syria since the fall of the previous regime.

Minister Al-Faraya and his accompanying delegation were received at Tishreen Palace by Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab and a number of senior officials.

Upon his arrival in Damascus, Al-Faraya emphasized the importance of the visit in strengthening bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields, particularly security.

He also condemned the terrorist bombings that struck Damascus, affirming the Kingdom's full support and solidarity with its sister nation, Syria, in confronting violence and the intimidation of civilians. He stated that his visit, despite the current security situation, reflects both countries' commitment to enhancing joint cooperation.

At the same time, Al-Faraya stressed Jordan's confidence in the Syrian state's ability to move forward with reconstruction and development, and to consolidate security and stability.

Al-Faraya held extensive meetings with Minister Khattab and other Syrian officials, discussing prospects for bilateral cooperation, including joint training, developing border crossings, and combating drug trafficking.
