Minister of Interior Mazen Al-Faraya inaugurates the new building of the Aqaba Governorate

The Minister of Interior inaugurated today, Wednesday, the new building of the Aqaba Governorate in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Nayef Hamidi Al-Fayez, members of the Board of Commissioners and the CEO of the Aqaba Development Company Hussein Al-Safadi, the Chairman of the Governorate Council Harb Al-Awidat, and a number of officials.

During the inauguration, Al-Faraya stressed the importance of the commercial, economic and touristic city of Aqaba and its distinction in organization, security, community peace and infrastructure, noting that it hosted one of the international exhibitions "SOFEX International" yesterday, in which Arab interior ministers participated and expressed their admiration for the distinctive defense and security industries it contains, especially the Jordanian military wing.

He pointed out that the upcoming parliamentary elections for the twentieth council will be distinguished from the previous ones in that they are party programmatic elections, held for the first time in Jordan and include 41 seats for parties, and each party will have two seats for women, calling on everyone to participate in this democratic celebration that Jordan is witnessing on the tenth of this month.
Al-Faraya explained that the elections will be held with complete transparency and integrity and will focus on consolidating the role of Jordanian women and party programs, noting that the elections are an important part of the political modernization system, so everyone must participate in them with their convictions, because participation in itself is a positive thing that serves the political process in Jordan.

He noted that voting and sorting will be in the same place and in the presence of the candidates' representatives, which confirms the integrity and credibility of the elections that will produce a House of Representatives that represents the people, monitors the work of the government and enacts laws that contribute to the development of public life in Jordanian society.

For his part, Aqaba Governor Khaled Al-Hajjaj stressed the governorate's keenness, with its various agencies, to maintain peace and community security in the city that enjoys special royal patronage from His Majesty the King and His Highness the Crown Prince, noting that the security agencies, with all their names, are doing their duty to maintain security in cooperation with all concerned parties, and government service departments are doing their duty to the fullest extent in providing services to citizens in their place of residence. He pointed out that the security and economic system in Aqaba is working properly, as evidenced by the low level of risks there thanks to the security elements it provides, noting that Aqaba’s distinction with His Majesty the King’s vision has provided citizens with all types of health and educational services, as well as tourist and economic infrastructure.
