The functions and duties of the Directorate:

Monitoring all report releases by the local, Arab, and international organizations that are discussing human rights in Jordan, and preparing the related responses within the scope of the Ministry’s business.

Preparing studies and analyzing reports related to human rights and general liberties.

Receiving complaints coming from human rights organizations and directly from citizens, and following them up with the concerned parties.

Participating in developing the strategies and policies related to human trafficking prevention, mobilizing the related national efforts, and following up their implementation in cooperation with the concerned parties.

Dealing with the received human trafficking related complaints, and passing them over to the concerned parties.

Participating with the specialized parties in studying the local and international organizations and institutions’ reports related to human trafficking, and, accordingly, preparing the appropriate responses.

Participating in studying the legislations related to human trafficking prevention, and, accordingly, presenting the related necessary suggestions in coordination with the concerned parties.

Managing the business of the Higher Committee for Correction and Rehabilitation, in cooperation and coordination with the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation Centers of the Public Security Directorate.

Coordinating with the official parties to arrange for human rights commissions and organizations visiting detention places and correction and rehabilitation centers.

Coordinating, with the concerned parties the rehabilitation of the inmates, supervising all the transactions coming from the Public Security Directorate related to the inmates, and accordingly, addressing all the concerned parties.

Visiting detention centers and correction and rehabilitation centers periodically to oversee the services provided to the inmates, preparing the visits’ reports, and following up any related remarks with the concerned parties
