Al-Faraya meets the European Union Election Observation Mission
Minister of Interior Mazen Al-Faraya met today at the ministry building with the European Union Election Observation Mission, in the presence of the Director of the Civil Status and Passports Department, the Assistant Director of Public Security for Operations and Training, and a number of concerned officials in the ministry.
Al-Faraya explained that the Prime Minister has stressed the complete neutrality of the government and that its role is limited to logistical support and standing at an equal distance from all candidates, pointing to the specific role of the Ministry of Interior and the Public Security Directorate in the security aspects related to the electoral process and ways to provide security protection for polling and sorting centers and final results collection centers and ensure the electoral process proceeds as hoped, especially with regard to facilitating the procedures for voters to reach the ballot boxes and cast their votes with ease and simplicity.
For his part, Director of the Civil Status and Passports Department Talal Al-Fayez reviewed the mechanism for preparing the legal and electronic voter lists, which were supervised by the Independent Election Commission and proceeded within their legal stages and ended with the preparation of the final voter lists according to the legal periods.
The mission thanked the Ministry of Interior for the meeting and praised the efforts made by all concerned parties to prepare for the parliamentary elections.
