Interior Minister meets French Ambassador in Amman

Interior Minister SalamahHammad met with French Ambassador to Amman Veronique Voulandon Tuesday to discuss ways of boosting bilateral cooperation, particularly in the security and police fields.The Minister of Interior affirmed that the relations between the two countries derive their strength from the keenness of the leaderships of the two countries on the need to proceed with their development and the establishment of joint programs and projects that achieve their bilateral interests, especially as they are long-standing and solid relations in various fields.

Hammad pointed to the need to strengthen cooperation between the two sides in a way that ensures the adoption of comprehensive programs and strategies to combat the threat of extremism, terrorism and crime of all kinds, exchange of information, visits,  intensify training and rehabilitation programs to cope with the rapid technological developments witnessed in the world.

The meeting also touched on the Jordanian experience in receiving refugees, where the Minister of Interior stressed that Jordan has a long experience in dealing with refugees as it embraces hundreds of thousands of them and provided everything possible to ensure a decent livelihood for them and exceeded its already limited capabilities, this has placed additional burdens on its vital and service sectors and must be supported in order to continue to carry out its humanitarian mission towards them.

The French ambassador praised the Jordanian role in tackling many of the issues and challenges facing the region, especially in the fight against terrorism and crime and its tireless efforts to achieve regional and international security and stability.

She pointed to the importance of the Jordanian-French partnership and the need to take the necessary measures to activate and develop it to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples.
